Karin Brandi started doing pig portraits, such as Newborn, after rescuing a pot-bellied pig several years ago. At her Olde Windmill Farm Sanctuary outside Cerrillos, Brandi and her ex-husband care for an assortment of hooved creatures (“On Earth as It Is in Heaven,” Dec/Jan 2014). A native of Ohio, she worked as a graphic designer and art director in the textile industry before moving to New Mexico with her family in 1997.
