Sarah Siltala
Executed with a classical European glazing technique, Pose on a Pear by painter Sarah Siltala shows the deep, rich, gem-like tones possible when transparent oil colors are thinly layered, rather than mixed from wet pigments. Siltala, who was born into a family of professional artists in Santa Fe, calls painting her meditation and way of life. Watching shadow and light evolve as she patiently waits for each layer to dry before adding the next, she hopes “to share a moment of peace and beauty ..., and to create a quiet respite in an often chaotic world.” Her elegant landscapes and still lifes are shown by Wilder Nightingale Fine Art in Taos and Wilde-Meyer Gallery in Scottsdale and Tucson. Siltala lives in Rio Rancho with her husband and two sons. For more information: sarahsiltala.com
