Fate led these animals to us—and maybe to you
Each issue, rescue groups in our community present some of the dogs and cats that have been abandoned or surrendered and need forever homes. In some cases, animals could use a foster home where they can wait for adoption, so they don’t have to keep living in a kennel. Contact each individual rescue group for more information. Most offer practical and financial support for animals and foster adopters.
Corrales Animal Control
This affectionate young female was found in the bosque and appears to be a Corgi/beagle mix. She’s a real cutie, a little camera shy, and doesn’t have a name yet. She has lots of energy and would be a loving and fun companion. Call Corrales Animal Control at 898-0401.
Jackie
Bro & Tracy Animal Welfare
Jackie is a petite, smart, and affectionate young border collie mix. She’s an “easy” dog who will fit right into your home. Lots of energy, but happy to cuddle quietly with you. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and learning to walk on a leash. Jackie comes running when you call her and is very playful, so she would like a canine companion and toys. Xander
New Mexico Dogs Deserve Better
This super-fun dog with boundless energy and a heart of gold is about a year old. He was surrendered to the city shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized. A volunteer called us because Xander is so friendly and energetic—he would be perfect for an active parent(s) who likes to run or hike, or has a big yard for him to play in. He is good with other dogs, walks well on a leash, knows how to sit, shake, and heel, and is very smart. He is house-trained and crate-trained, and loves to snuggle, so he should live inside with his family. Adoption of Xander includes a six-week training class at Corrales Kennels. Elvis
Second Chance Animal Rescue
A very sweet black shepherd mix, Elvis was a stray puppy found in Corrales a year ago March, and he is still waiting for his forever family. He is great with other dogs, very playful, active, house-trained and crate-trained. Elvis is attending obedience training classes with a volunteer and is learning leash manners and basic commands. Frosty Paws
CARMA (Companion Animal Rescue and Medical Assistance)
This sweet young guy was found as a stray in Corrales—probably because he’s a climber who is adept at scaling fences. Frosty Paws is a Chihuahua/terrier mix weighing 15 pounds and probably about a year old. He likes other dogs and cats, loves to ride in the car, and doesn’t mind a bath. He also loves to chew leather, so put away your shoes! Frosty’s big ears are always tuned to his human, and he’s ready for anything you are: a walk, nap or cuddle on the couch.
