Beautiful Beast!

Each issue, rescue groups in our community present some of the dogs and cats that have been abandoned or surrendered and need forever homes. In some cases, animals could use a foster home where they can wait for adoption, so they don’t have to keep living in a kennel. Contact each individual rescue group for more information. Most offer practical and financial support for animals and foster adopters.

Memphis Rains

New Mexico Dogs Deserve Better

He was a pup running loose in a very bad part of town before being rescued, along with his little sister Eleanor, and placed into a wonderful foster home. Together they are learning all the things a pup needs to know to become a treasured member of the family. Memphis Rains is a pit bull mix, approximately 4 months old, who is house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on a leash, knows how to sit for his dinner, and gets along well with the resident ferret. He is about as cute as they come and will make a wonderful addition to the right family. Email adopt@nmddb.org for an adoption application.

Gigi

CARMA (Companion Animal Rescue and Medical Assistance)

Gigi came to us from a semi truck from Phoenix loaded with goods for Target. She had her many small babies with her, so CARMA took in the whole family. Gigi is around 4 years old, and is now spayed and up to date on shots. She has changed her traveling ways and is looking for a good indoor-only home where she can play and lounge with her favorite people. She is good with people and other cats. Contact 321-6275 or barbara carma@msn.com

Shayla

Second Chance Animal Rescue

This spayed Lab/Weimaraner was surrendered to Valencia County Animal Control and scheduled to be put down immediately, like all black ownersurrenders. But she and another dog in the same situation were rescued just in time by Second Chance. This beautiful, happy dog is crate-trained, even-tempered, and energetic, and clearly has had some obedience training. She is a little shy with new people, but loves dogs of all sizes, along with her stuffed toys and wading pool. She is full grown at about 60 pounds and would do best in a home with at least one other playful dog and a yard where they can run. Contact secondchancenm@yahoo. com or visit the thrift store at 3701 Corrales Road.

Nikki

Bro & Tracy Animal Welfare

Nikki has one desire in life, and that is to find her very own person, someone who will love her and want to be with her almost all the time, who will take her for walks and car rides, and enjoy training her and all the activities they can share. Nikki is a female Australian shepherd mix, about one year old. She is very affectionate with people and loves to play with other dogs and toys.
