Jade Leyva’s magical paintings are thematically rich in birds, flowers, trees, and the heritage of her
native Mexico. A painter, photographer, potter, and children’s book author, she was born in Mexico
City and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2000 to work at a family restaurant. Becoming immersed
in the world of Native American art collecting, she started painting in earnest in 2006,
upon moving to New Mexico. Levya’s work appears in galleries throughout the Southwest, including
Gathering of Artists in Corrales, and she has illustrated posters for the Bernalillo Wine Festival
and ¡Globalquerque!. In 2013 she launched SEEDS: A Collective Voice, a group that uses art to
promote sustainable living. Leyva lives in Placitas with her husband, music promoter Tom Frouge.
